CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Old Dominion senior Reed Matthews (Denver, Colo.) has been named the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week, while UMBC freshman Elijah Wright (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the CCSA Men's Diver of the Week for meets contested Nov. 19-22, the CCSA announced Tuesday.
Mathews highlighted the weekend with a runner-up finish in the men's 200-yard butterfly, recording a NCAA B Standard time of 1:44.41. The Colorado native also captured ninth place in the 100-yard fly with an NCAA B Standard time of 47.65. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Mathews, Anton Mikaelsson, Jacob Zeidler and Graham Thatcher recorded a fourth place finish (1:22.32) and also swam to 10th place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:19.31).
Wright was the top Retriever diver at the Patriot Invitational this past weekend. The Baltimore native earned a sixth place finish on the 1 meter boards on Thursday. Wright scored a 239.25 in the prelims, before besting that score with a 242.40 in the finals. He followed that up with an 11th place finish in the 3 meter dive, scoring 193.70 on Friday.
