The Coastal Collegiate Swim Association opened its 2014-15 swimming & diving season with Liberty at Campbell, which the Flames won in a 140-121 victory Friday at Johnson Natatorium.

The defending CCSA champion Lady Flames are now 4-2 all-time against the Fighting Camels, winning four meetings in a row.

Campbell posted seven individual event victories, while Liberty had five.

Liberty Opens Season With Victory at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Liberty opened its 2014-15 swimming & diving season with a 140-121 victory over CCSA opponent Campbell, Friday at Johnson Natatorium.

Liberty won both relays, including a 1-2 sweep in the meet-ending 200 freestyle relay. The Lady Flames posted five individual event victories, compared to seven for Campbell.

Liberty sophomore Morgan Noonan pocketed a pair of wins, in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Classmate Victoria Tschoke won the 200 back, while senior Emily Duff took first in the 100 free and freshman Rachel Hoeve claimed the 200 free victory.

Liberty Edges Swimming in 140-121 Opener

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – With just six points separating the teams heading into the final event, Liberty took the top three spots in the 200 yard freestyle relay to edge Campbell 140-121 in the 2014-15 for both squads Friday at the Johnson Aquatic Center.

The Camels trailed the defending CCSA Champion Flames 119-106 with just two races remaining before CU freshman Sindija Silina won the 200 IM with a 2:10.38 with junior Lily Tang finishing third (2:11.00) to pull the home team within six points.
