CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Competing for the first time in 2016, the North Florida swim team dropped a road dual meet at Tulane, 191-94.For the ninth time this season, senior Amy Taylor entered a time in the program's all-time top 10 list.
Taylor won the very first individual race of the day, taking first place in the 1650 freestyle. Her time of 17:14.87 was the fourth fastest ever by a North Florida swimmer. She now owns five of the 10 fastest times in school history in the 1650 freestyle. She was just off her season best time in the 100 fly, hitting the wall with a time of 57.88. READ MORE
The University of the Incarnate Word swimming and diving teams each hosted a home meet on Tuesday at the Anne Barshop Natatorium. The women lost to Rice, 106-97 while the men lost to SMU, 150-91. (Results)
The women's meet did not include any diving events, but the Cardinals were nearly able to upset the Owls. Alona Kyselova (Kiev, Ukraine) and Mariana Olguin (Toledo, Brazil) led the way with a pair of individual victories and they teamed with Natalia Hernandez (N. Vancouver, BC) and Dariia Bielousova (Kiev, Ukraine) to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:34.91. READ MORE
The FGCU swimming and diving team battled windy and cool conditions en route to a dominating 141-64 point victory against in-state rival FIU as the Eagles graduating class was honored on Saturday at the FGCU Aquatics Center. With the win, the Green and Blue improved its record to 12-1 (2-0 CCSA) and matched a program record for dual-meet wins in a single season, previously recorded in 2009-10.
FGCU got off to a fast start and never looked back as the Eagles ultimately won nine of 11 events and placed two swimmers in the top-three of all but one race. READ MORE
Due to heavy snowfall, the Davidson Duals meet featuring Liberty, Gardner-Webb and Georgia Southern was canceled this past weekend. No makeup date will be rescheduled. Meanwhile, VMI’s tri-meet with Washington & Lee and Ferrum has been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30 at 1:00pm.
