Charlotte, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Campbell senior Sindija Silina (Valmiera, Latvia) has been named the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week, while Georgia Southern freshman Katie Knight (Bishop, Ga.) has been named CCSA Women's Diver of the Week for meets contested Oct. 16-22, the CCSA announced Wednesday.
Silina claimed an individual victory in the 200 free against Georgia Southern and was a part of two relay victories last weekend. The Valmiera, Latvia native swam a 1:55.42 to take top honors in the 200 free in the dual meet against the Eagles. She was a part of the 200 free relay squad that earned the victory against GS with a time of 1:36.00. Against a stacked field of North Florida and FGCU at the UNF tri-meet, Silina helped CU's 400 free relay team earn the victory with a time of 3:33.11. She swam to a second-place finish in the 200 free at the UNF tri-meet posting a 1:56.33 time, and a third place finish in the 100 free (53.37) at the same event. Silina also swam a 2:26.87 in 200 breast to finish third against the Eagles.
Knight took to the boards for her first collegiate action and swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter competition in Georgia Southern's 150-144 dual meet win over Campbell last Friday. She scored 251.25 in the 3-meter, which already qualifies her for fifth-best on the GS All-Time Top Performance chart among divers. She then scored 238.72 in the 1-meter for the Eagles, helping Georgia Southern win its home opener of the 2017-18 season.
