CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Florida Gulf Coast’s Emma Svensson (Uppsala, Sweden) has been selected as the CCSA Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while Georgia Southern’s Emma Weisel (Lawrenceville, Ga.) has been dubbed Diver of the Week for meets competed Jan. 20-26, the League announced today.
Svensson posted three individual victories and a relay win last week in FGCU’s victory over Florida International. Her wins came in the 50-yard freestyle (23.44), 100-yard freestyle (51.15) and the 100-yard backstroke (56.65). Svensson also earned a victory as the anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished in 3:29.86. The award is her second Swimmer of the Week nod this season.
Weisel posted an NCAA Zone qualifying score in the 3-meter dive last week against Gardner-Webb and North Florida. In the two dual meets she claimed three first place finishes. On Friday, Weisel won the 1-meter event with a score of 251.55 and the 3-meter event with 274.72 points. She followed that up with the NCAA Zone qualifying score in the 3-meter dive (286.60) to win the event. She added a second place finish in the 1-meter dive (238.27). The award is her first Diver of the Week honor this season.
