CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – UMBC’s Johan Rohtla (Tallinn, Estonia) has been selected as the CCSA Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while the Retrievers’ Tim Perkins (Frederick, Md.) has been named CCSA Men’s Diver of the Week for meets competed Jan. 20-26, the League announced today.
Rohtla led UMBC against East Carolina and Catawba last week. He swept the backstroke events, including a season-best in the 200-yard event (1:50.38) and a time of 52.07 in the 100-yard backstroke. Rohtla also competed in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in fifth place. The award marks his second Swimmer of the Week honor this season.
Perkins took the lead for the Retrievers on the diving platform last week against East Carolina and Catawba. He won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 255.75. Perkins followed up that effort with a third place finish in the 3-meter event (257.25). This marks his third Diver of the Week plaudit this season.
