CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – UMBC’s Mohamed Hussein (Cairo, Egypt) has been selected as the CCSA Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while UMBC’s Tim Perkins (Frederick, Md.) earned Diver of the Week honors for meets competed Oct. 20-Oct. 27, the League announced today.
Hussein won three events in the Retrievers’ dual meet with George Washington last week. He won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.25. Hussein went on to also finish in first place in the 100-yard butterfly (51.48) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.49). On UMBC’s victorious 200-yard medley relay team, Hussein swam the lead leg with a split of 23.83. The award marks his second Swimmer of the Week nod this season.
Perkins swept the diving events last week against George Washington. In the 3-meter competition, he set a career-high with a score of 323.62 while also qualifying for NCAA Zones. Perkins also won the 1-meter competition by posting a score of 281.02. The honor is his second of the year.
