Incarnate Word participated in its first meet as a CCSA member while Campbell, Georgia Southern, Radford, UNC Asheville and VMI were also in action.
RADFORD DEFEATS VMI, 184-48
Radford won 12 of 13 events as it rolled to a 184-48 victory over VMI in a CCSA dual on Saturday afternoon. Sophomores Mary Flinn and Sarah Fredericksen each won two events as eight different Highlanders took home victories helping their squad to its first win of the season.
Sophomore Yvonne Smith (50 free), senior Skye Hickling (3-meter), junior Claire Doherty (100 fly), senior Jessica Frazelle (100 backstroke), freshman Marinda Kitchen (500 free) and freshman Madeline Schouten (100 breaststroke) touched the wall with the fastest times. MAGILL’S ZONE QUALIFIER PACES KEYDETS VERSUS RADFORD
Heather Magill set a new school record in 1-meter diving and posted an NCAA Zone Qualifier for the second straight year, but the Radford Highlanders defeated the VMI Keydets 184-48 in NCAA women's swimming and diving action Saturday afternoon at Clark King Pool in Lexington.
Magill tallied 271.45 points, besting a crowded four-diver field in the 1-meter event. The score qualifies her to the NCAA Zone Diving Meet, from which the qualifiers for the 2014 NCAA Championships will come. That meet for Zone A, VMI's section, is scheduled for March 10-12 at Virginia Tech's pool in Christiansburg. Magill finished second in the 3-meter later in the day. FULL STORY
BULLDOG SWIMMING CAPTURES 5 1ST-PLACE FINISHES AT MARSHALL
UNC Asheville captured five first place finishes and battled Marshall before the Thundering Herd recorded a 148.5-105.5 victory over the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.
Alessandra Troncoso and freshman Alexandra van Dorsten each won two events for the Blue & White. Ashley Ireland won one event for the Bulldogs. FULL STORY
