CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – UMBC’s Mohamed Hussein (Cairo, Egypt) has been selected as the CCSA Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Davidson College’s Brian McRae (Portland, Maine) earned Diver of the Week honors for meets competed Oct. 6-Oct. 12, the League announced today.
Hussein won the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley in conference newcomer, UMBC’s dual against Rider in non-conference action last week. In the 50 free, he tied a pool record with a time of 21.31. In the 200 free he finished with a time of 1:43.45 and also recorded a time of 1:54.49 in the 200 IM. Hussein swam the lead-off leg of the 200 medley relay team which broke the pool record at Rider with a time of 1:34.37.
McRae placed in the top three in both events in Davidson’s dual with East Carolina last week. He scored 233.70 points to place second in the 1-meter competition. In the 3-meter event, he totaled 228.97 points to finish third in the event. The award is his second CCSA Diver of the Week honor this season.
