New CCSA member UNC Asheville has proved itself to a force to be reckoned with. The Bulldogs, under the direction of head coach Elizabeth Lykins, have garnered a 3-6 record this season - their efforts spearheaded by freshman Alessandra Toncoso.
In UNC Asheville's final home meet of the season against North Carolina A&T, Troncoso won two events and anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle relay. She won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.05, and her time of 1:04.69 in the 100-yard breaststroke was a career-best.
"She is a great asset to the new UNC Asheville program where she works hard in the classroom, the pool and the weight room," said Lykins. "I'm excited to see her hard work pay off at the Conference Championships."
The Bulldogs completed its first season in 36 years at the Justice Center Pool Saturday evening. Next stop for UNC Asheville is the CCSA Championships in Athens, Ga., February 21-23.
