CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) - Florida Gulf Coast's Emma Svensson (Upsala, Sweden) has been selected as the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week, while North Florida's Julia Moomaw (Orlando, Fla.) earned Diver of the Week honors for meets competed Dec. 31-Jan. 6, the League announced today.
Svensson had a great performance Florida Gulf Coast's quad-meet against Liberty, Georgia Southern and North Dakota. She finished first-place in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle with times of 23:39 and 51.19, respectively. Svensson was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay that finished in a time of 1:43.77 and the 200-yard freestyle relay that won with a time of 1:34.85. Both relays set pool records.
Moomaw won three events to help North Florida to a 4-0 week. In North Florida's tri-meet on Friday, she won both diving events with a season-best score of 261.85 on the 1-meter board and a 258.55 score on the 3-meter board. In North Florida's tri-meet Saturday, she won the 3-meter event with another season-best 277.35 mark. This is Moomaw's second Diver of the Week plaudit this season.
Also nominated for Swimmer of the Week for Week 15: Amber Juncker (Georgia Southern), Emilie Kaufman (Liberty), Maria Bernard (North Florida), Sarah Fredericksen (Radford) and Galen Broido (UNC Asheville).
