LIBERTY DEFEATS BOSTON COLLEGE, 172-117 | LIBERTY DEFEATS MAINE, 173-110 | RESULTS

Liberty swimming defeated Boston College of the ACC and Maine of the America East, Friday at a tri-meet hosted by Boston College.

The Lady Flames now hold a 5-1 record, including 3-0 in CCSA dual meets, after registering their first victory over an ACC opponent in program history.

Liberty downed Boston College, 172-117, and won by a 173-110 margin over Maine.  Maine won the head-to-head meet with Boston College, 164-136.

Throughout the meet, Liberty posted the top time in each swimming event contested, including a program-record swim of 2:19.46 by Emilie Kaufman in the 200 breaststroke.

Kaufman won both the 200 breaststroke and 100 backstroke (57.12).  She also clocked the fastest time for the 200 IM, 2:05.77, an event that Liberty swam as an exhibition.  Laura Day took second in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.61), while Kendal Hough and Chloe Thomas finished second and third behind Kaufman in the 100 back.

Hannah Wakeley claimed the 1000 free in 10:38.59, and edged her sister, Bethany Wakeley (2:10.48 to 2:10.65) for first place in the 200 fly.  Jess Reinhardt followed in a close third, at 2:10.72.

Emily Duff won the 200 free with a time of 1:56.79, with Bethany Wakeley (1:57.83) and Sarah McCorkle (1:58.00) finishing second and third.  Duff then placed first in the 500 free (5:14.42), and Hannah Wakeley (5:16.67) placed second.

Brye Ravettine won both sprint free races, touching the wall first in 23.75 to lead a 1-2-3 Liberty sweep of the 50 free and leading another sweep in the 100 free, clocking 52.42.  Chloe Thomas and Cori Gary finished second and third behind Ravettine in both races.

Laura Day earned victory in the 100 breast, with a time of 1:05.97.  Kendall Hough placed first with a 200 back clocking of 2:10.04, with Erin Curry taking second in 2:10.48. Reinhardt claimed the 100 fly by swimming 57.01.

Liberty posted the two best times in both relays, swimming 1:44.79 and 1:45.61 for the 200 medley relay before closing the meet with 1:36.81 and 1:37.99 in the 200 free relay.

Liberty will next compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational, Nov. 15-17 at Christiansburg Aquatic Center.  The seven-team event features five squads which scored points at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in 2012.
